Discus Minimus

Over at AVS Forum, there are dozens of threads about what was hot at the CEDIA show this last weekend. New 1080p projectors, curved screens, media servers, speakers, etc.  But for Blu-ray and HD-DVD, just prototypes, most of which were the same ones we’ve been seeing for a year now. And I think it’s safe to say that it will be the same story at CES in January. I also did not see any press releases on the subject, new developments on standards or unification.
In fact the only real news from the disc people recently have been delays. Pretty much nothing is going to happen this year, and ‘2006′ is the narrowest range mentioned. Some of the studios are pulling back or extending their schedules for releases on either format.
No real big conclusion here. I suppose one would say “No news is good news”, but my gut tells me different.
